UsherKids Australia remains committed to improving the outcomes for families by driving psychosocial research and developing resources for families, as well as health, education and disability sector professionals.

Our Online Learning Hub provides self-paced sessions to ensure health care professionals and educators working with children with Usher syndrome remain up to date on the latest evidence-based research and clinical practice.

These sessions are be appropriate for paediatricians, geneticists, genetic counsellors, audiologists, speech pathologists, ophthalmologists, orthoptists, optometrists, orientation and mobility specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, teachers of the vision impaired, teachers of the deaf and mainstream educators from kindergarten through to primary and secondary school.

Where possible, we work with the following organisations to ensure our online learning is accredited towards continuing professional education programs:

  • AG Bell
  • Australian College of Audiology
  • Audiology Australia
  • Australasian Society of Genetic Counsellors
  • Orthoptics Australia
  • Orientation & Mobility Association of Australasia
  • Speech Pathology Australia
  • National Association of Australian Teachers of the Deaf
  • NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)

We have found the Usherkids webinar series immensely helpful and inspiring. I am humbled by the work that you have undertaken in building such strong professional communities supporting positive change for so many children and students. Some of the lectures gave fresh hope to new treatments and support.
